Angie came to see us in December 2018, aged 45, struggling with debilitating migraine headaches. Her eyes were healthy and she had good eye control and focussing, without the need for conventional glasses or eye exercises.
Migraines had become a weekly feature of Angie’s life and had not changed in nature since they commenced in her early 20s. They had a huge impact on her working, social and family life. When a migraine attack occurred, she experienced nausea, stabbing pain in and around her eyes; she became unable to move or speak.
She was taking a lot of medications for her migraine; Tolfenemic acid, Tramadol and Amitriptyline. Taking these reduced the length of a migraine from 3-5 days to 2-3 days at a time, but nothing had been found that could prevent the onset of migraine attacks.
Her coloured glasses have been the only intervention that has given Angie control over the difficulties that have dominated the majority of her life.
Angie says,
“Having the coloured glasses has given me something I can do, when I feel a migraine coming on. They have truly transformed my life. These glasses enable me to function in a way that normally allows me to remain at work. On feeling the start of a migraine I use my glasses. If its a particularly pesky migraine and symptoms don't ease, I take a Tolfenemic acid this usually stops it in its tracks. Only 4 have managed to beat the glasses and meds. I have reduced my use of Tolfenemic Acid and no longer need Amitriptyline.
"I have only missed two days of work since receiving my coloured glasses. Having these coloured lenses plus my medication means I can function normally!”
